The Curator Issue 1 + 2+ Tote Bag
“Almost nothing, it seems, could be more important to man than the human body. It is the solid part of “I”; it is with us as long as we live. Yet thousands and thousands of years passed before man really learned about this physical part of himself.”
This issue of The Curator Mag is an exploration of art vis-à-vis the human form across media- painting, sculpture, photography, film, performance art, and more.
Vritika Lalwani opens the issue with a stellar curation of artworks, from the likes of Loreal Prystaj, Sudipta Das and Patricia Piccinini, highlighting the human body as a meeting ground for the past, present and future; carriers of an inevitable inheritance. Nawal Ali reads the human body as a personal and political storytelling tool and showcases artists whose enlightening practices have immense potential to make one think and draw from. While displaying various portrayals in media and arts, the issue attempts to draw attention towards the remarkable capacities of the body- house of the marvellous human mind.
